Dear Dr. Lederberg:

This is a strange request which comes about
as a result of Dr. Kornberg's visit with us. I
told him that I was interested from the histori-
cal standpoint in people who have made important
research contributions during their student days.
He put you at the head of his list ~ so I am
emboldened to ask if you mind being referred to
in an AOA lecture I must give soon at another
school. If not, I would very much appreciate a
small glossy print of yourself from which a lan-
tern slide can be made as well as a little more
specific information than I now possess regarding
the contributions you made as a student. It is my
understanding that you began the study of medicine
but were side-tracked into chemistry because of
them.

I apologize for making a nuisance of myself
but it is people like you and Kornberg who in -

spire students,
