The proofs reached me only on Saturday,after 12, ~
shortly before I left the <nstitute.They had been sent by

the CUP to an insufficient address (the same given in the
paper) and were delayed in the mails;there was obviously no=
thing more I could do about the proofs myself,but I trust
that the letter I sent you ,containing a list of corrections,
has reached you in time ,. Just before bhe proofs reached me

i had a letter fr.m Joshua ,who had already received then,
and mentioned the seriours misprint in title : Ineffective
instead of infective.He said he had sent back to editor _.

the proofs corrected of this and some minor typographical
misprints, amyimgxthka and had added that the corrections of
the proofs had to go through me. I hope there has been no
confusion with all this} could you let me know something

at your eonvenience !?

I wanted to wire to the editor about the misprint
in title to make sure that at least this would be corrected,
but not knowing whether I should write to Dr.Standfast or
to the CUP I have done nothing of it.

I have nothing interesting to report from the la-
voratory,for the time being. *
