Dear Josh:

Ernst Helmreich is responsible for organizing a graduate
course in proteins and nucleic acids here for postdoctoral fellows
in a variety of departments. He has asked me to inquire whether
we could possibly get you here to give a lecture this Fall - sometime
between November 15 and Christmas - ostensibly for this group* Act-
ually, of course, if you came and spoke the audience would include most
of the medical school. Apart from any official gratification I would get
from your visit, it would of course, give me great personal pleasure to
see you and to talk with you about some of the work going on in our
laboratory and about some problems of mutual interest, All of your
expenses would, of course, be covered; there also would be an honorarium
of $250.

The Department of Microbiology is shaping up very nicely physically
but we could certainly use the scientific uplift your visit would inspire.
Incidentally, the Meynells will be visiting here from 1 November 196l
through most of January '62.
