Dear Joshua,

Our ship will sail from Savona on the 18%h. The journey
is supposed to last 14-16 days and to end at Norfolk, Virginia, where
we should be on Sept.lst-3rd.

I have to contact the Rockefeller people in New York and,
if the ship is late and they do not work on Saturday (the 4th) I may
be unable to be at Woods Hole before th evening of Sept.the 6th.liiw7}

If this date is not too late for you there is a good like-
lihood that we may join you on the way to Madison.However,we shall try
to get there sooner than the 6th.

Perhaps the best is that I wire you when in Norfolk, and
that you wire back to me c/o Rockfound,New York (cable address) your
proposed date of departure. This will put me in a position to judge
whether we can reach you or not,and let you know accordingly. We shall
contact Bernie Davis as well,when jn New York. If you could let him
too know abour your programmes;it would give us a chance of knowing
earlier about them,as he May be more easily able to leave a note or
message for us if we come on Saturday or Sunday and he is away from
New York.
