Enroute to Copenhagen
Dear Josh,
We are on our way to Copenhagen.  All very thrilling.  We stop soon in Greenland and then on to Denmark, in 4 hours.
I have accepted Norm Kretchmer's offer to come into the department of Pediatrics.  So we will be returning to Stanford next year.  Norm has me applying for a career development award from the Public Health Service.  The application requires four references and I hope you will serve as one.  A recommendation from you would boost my chances of getting the award.  I am most appreciative of any support you might give me.  The Public Health Service will

Again let me thank you for the privilege of working in your department.  These past two years have been fabulous.  I hope you and Len will continue the policy of training M.D.s such as me in genetics.  I think this is as important as providing further training for biologists, especially if you expect good quality in clinical research.
We will keep you and Esther posted of our progress, and look forward to seeing you both in Milan next fall.
