Elise Cahn 108-26 - 65 Avenue, Forest Hills, L. 1, N. Y. May 3, 1950 Dear Dr.Lederberg: Thank you very much for your letter, as well as for all the trouble . you took on my behalve. I agree with you that the -best thing to do would be to postpone my studies for an other year, as had been my original plan before the civil service troubles arose. I would, however, like _to keep my bid in for an assistantship for the Fall of '51. I hope that space will be available by that time. If not, I could possibly spend the greater part of my first year on course work. I would naturally prefer to start right in on research then but I do feel that I still need quite a few courses and if the space problem is still acute, then getting courses out of the way may be one way of getting around that. Let me thank you again for all your consideration. Sincerely yoursp
