Dear Josh
In some strange reason your letter has just reached me and I agree completely with your idea that you should not recommend my daughter without additional information.  Genie is 17 yrs old a straight A student she is the first girl to be elected President of the Student Council at Canadian Academy an evidence of her diversified interests and her drive. She is interested in biology and the possibility of a career in medicine is clear.  She is an accomplished pianist, cheerleader and sings in the choir.  Beyond academic ability and broad cultural interests she is pretty.  (I may sound biased but it is all true).  She is applying to Swarthmore, Stanford, and Cornell.
I have just been in the States to talk about a job and to deliver the manuscript of a book on Japan--thank God it is finished.  As of February I became a staff member of the Rockefeller Foundation and my first project

is a study of medical education on developing countries.  We plan to come back to the U.S.A. in June and we will probably re-establish at least temporarily a residence in Madison.  Jim Crow seems to be enjoying his administrative job at least he accepts it with the usual smile.
Are you still busy with the moon or have you concentrated again on genetics?  I am afraid that I am very much out of touch with science in the U.S. but we are all very happy.  Please give my regards to Esther--.
