Dear Josh,
Thank you very much for your invitation.  I would like to come, and so would Alan, but we both have trips planned for November and December.  This, plus my teaching this semester, made me a little reluctant to come in the immediate future.  Some time in January would suit us.  How about you? Do you plan to be in this vicinity before then?
