1st June 1953 Dear Esther and Josh, I want to thank you both for your kindness to me during my stay in Madison. I had many informative discussions with you and I am grateful for these and for the large proportion of your personal time that you devoted to me. I hope that I shall have the opportunity of returning your hospitality very soon in England so that I can demonstrate the full measure of my gratitude. When I left Madison you seemed rather doubtful about coming to Cold Spring Harbor. I do hope, however, that you will come because I think that as Hayes' paper is in your subject, it would be to your advantage to deal with its implications on the spot and in the presence of the other workers who would benefit from your enzymes. For this reason and because I should like to see I am going before I leave, I hope you will be at Cold Spring Harbor. With kindest regards, Andy
