INDIANA UNIVERSITY BLOOMINGTON, INDIANA December 18, 1952 Dr. Joshua Lederberg Department of Genetics University of Wisconsin Madison 6, Wisconsin Dear Joshua: I got the letter from the President of the University of Connecti- cut as you supposed I would and answered it more promptly than I'm answering your last letter. I did not know the final word on the LCD appointment at Harvard, until you told me. I suspected that would happen. On the whole I think it was wise. I have just received word from Romer that he is in charge of a new committee to look into the matter and their present plan is to look for a young man in the assistant professor or associate professor category at. minimal salary. I think this is a great mistake, but Harvard seems to like to make mistakes,--at least in the biology department. Thanks for your suggestions about what to do for the genetics congress, I'll keep them in mind and do something about them next Spring or Summer. With very best greetings to you and Esther, Cordially, SJ WY. Arnaforn, T. M. Sonneborn TMS: jb
