December 22nd 1954 Dear Dr Lederberg Do you have bacterial strains other than K12 (or derivatives), 122 and 123 (of the London collection) which are [ . . . ] to the phage [lambda]? I remember that you mentioned in one of your papers having found about 5 such strains. If you do would you mind sending them to me? More and more I believe that the mutants of [lambda] which I got my irradiating phage and bacteria are due to a sort of cross between phage and bacteria and I would like to see what the mutants are when prepared on strains as "unrelated" to K12 as possible. (I believe Cavalli has a Shiga sensitior[?] to [lambda]). Wishing you a 1955 fall of success. Yours truly J. Weigle By the way I have a lot of [lambda] mutants. If you would like some or all of them I should be glad to send them to you.
