Dear Josh,

Forgive me for being so late in replying. I
haven't yet been able to dig up anything for Ellis,
I agree with you that it would be very regretable to
lose Ellis. I will continue looking, though I wish
the hell that there was something I could do right
away.

We had heard from the Blair's of your visit to
Monterey. They enjoyed meeting you. Jane and I are
off to New York for a week and then I will spend a
few days at Cold Spring Harbor, arriving back in Chicago
on July 26th, Sorry to hear about your camera difficulties,
and feel that I am responsible either for not having
given you sufficient instructions or for recommending
a poor instrument,

Except that it is not quite true, I will not say
that we don't wish to be in California right now,
