Jan. 24, 1952 Dear Joshua-- I sail for France on Feb. 15, and would like to get your stocks of P. fluorescens mutants before departing. I already have the two that you sent to Gunny (citrulline and orotic ac.--, Leuc-Tr-SR). Could you also include a culture of your wild type strain? I think this would furnish a safer reference point than our culture of it. Slants preferred! I'm quite hopeful that this study of these strains will yield interesting results on adaptive mechanisms. I think the other main project for the Paris sojourn will be learning serological techniques from Mel Cohen, since I begin to see the possibilities of these in enzymatic studies, particularly after talking recently to Dave Bonner. I met Oginsky the other day, and found her very defensive about the metabolism of streptomycin-resistant E. coli. Best wishes to you both, Roger
