I have noted with interest your paper in Nature, 146:356-357 1950
on an antagonist of streptomyoin produced by Pseudomonas pyocanea. If
you are stil) interested in this problen, I would be grateful for a
brief consideration of one or two questions.

#@ are not primarily interested in antloblotic mechanisms in this
iaboratory, but have had oceasion te use strertouycin as a reagent in
various atudies. I am particularly concerned ss to -hether bacterla
(£. col) that have heen apparently frreversibly inactiveted with SM
are truiy "dead". Do you think the nrorrsnza antegonist yuld provide
& practical means of answering this question, or bes tt sloeas ‘been
applied?
