Dear Dr. Lederberg,
As you may know I am doing some work on the effect of isotopes on mutation, using Neurospora to date.  I would like to try some modified experiments using bacteria and I'm hoping you might be able to give me a culture of E. coli, probably K12 or if there is another strain that would be better perhaps you'd send both.
When I was in Madison I learned that the velvet used in the replica plating is quite important.  Where could I get a velvet which would work?
I sincerely hope I'm not inconveniencing you too much by these requests.
