Jamuary 29, 1952 Fifth Annual Biology Research Conference "SOME ASPECTS OF MICROBIAL METABOLISM? The fifth annual spring research conference sponsored by the Biology Division of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory will take place on April 10, 11, 1952. This conference, supported by the Atomic Energy Commission, will consist of invited papers and open discussion of a nonrestricted nature. You, and a limited number of your group who are interested in this field, are cordially invited to attend our meeting. As this is not an information meeting, the people who attend should either be workers in the field or should have a real interest in the subject under discussion. All sessions will be held in the East Lounge of the Ridge Recreation Hall, Visitors will be guests of the Carbide and Carbon Chemicals Company, a Division of the Union Carbide and Carbon Corporation, at a smoker and social meeting on Thursday evening in the Ridge Hall. A tour of the Biology Division laboratories will be conducted on Saturday morning, April 12, for visitors who wish to remain over. This, of course, will be open only to American citizens. If you wish to see the work going on in the Division, please fill in the blanks on the enclosed card and return it with your reservation forms. A program of the meetings, listing speakers and the general subjects of their talks, is attached. Programs with specific titles and other infor- mation will be available at the conference. Blanks are enclosed for your convenience in notifying us of your travel plans and room reservation needs. Please give exact information if at all possible. The enclosed map of the Oak Ridge vicinity may be helpful if you plan to drive to the conference. Rooms in Oak Ridge are available at reasonable rates. Transportation between Knoxville and Oak Ridge will be provided by the Knoxville Airport Transit Service at approximately $2.00 a trip. The limousines will meet both trains and planes by prior arrangement, and will deliver guests to their Oak Ridge hotel. Knoxville, which is about twenty miles from Oak Ridge, is served by the Southern and L & N Railroads and by Delta, American, and Capital Airlines. It is important that the information requested reach us on or before March 31. Additional reservation farms may be had upon request.
