I hope you have had a chance to think over the points which we
discussed during your visit here. is you know we would like
very much to have you with us if you can see your way clear.

As far as salary is concerned, I think we could approach the
salary you mentioned in our conversation. The position would
involve a study of the basic aspects of radiation effects in
connection with bacteria and other microorganisms. As you know,
we interpret "basic aspects" of radiation rather broadly. If
the work should turn out well, we would organize a group of
young investigators around you,

I plan to be in Chicago in the near future, and if you are in-
terested, I would like to get together with you and discuss the
different points in connection with this suggestion.
