Dear Hayes:

I found your note of the 4th waiting for me upon my return from a
business trip to San Francisco.

Of course we will be happy to see you at a time fitting your own
best convenience, be it Saturday,Sunday or a weekday, We have no special
preference or aversion to the weakend; it would make it a bit more dif-
ficult to get together with other people in our group, and perhaps
slsewheee on campus, who would have welcomed the opportunity to meet
you. In any event, classes do not cegin until a week later, though there
will be the AIBS meeting from the 7th—1l2th, with innumerable biologists
swarming over the campus.

Iwill then expect you on the 5th or 6th of Sepéember, unless you
find it quite convenient to come either Friday or Monday. If you can drop
me 4 line in the meanwhile, it will help to save some accomddations on
your behalf.
