My dear Lederberg,

Concerning my proposed visit to see you,I will
be arriving in N.Y.about August 28,will buy a car and hope to set out
westwards with my family about September 1 or 2, I will park the family
with the Benzers at Lafayette about Sept.3 or 4 and will probably make
my way to Madison by train. Since I will be anxious to move on as soon
as possible,this means that it would be most convenient for me to visit
you on either Saturday or Sunday,Sept.5 or 6. I cannot tell whether
this would be convenient for you on the grounds that you would probably
be free from classes and other duties on these days,or whether you
employ your Sundays,in particular,away from work. I do not wish to put
you_to any inconvenience and,if these days are not suitable,I think I

:, could manage Monday. This schedule is only provisional,though highly
. probable,since I have not yet acquired the car although I have made
. arrangements for its purchase. Please let me know. whether the Sat.or
.. Sunday would be suitable if I can make it. I will be at the above
- address till Aug.17, After that,"care of Miss Klem(to await arrival),
,L.I.B.A.,Cold Spring Harbor" will reach me. I will,of’course,give you
: more immediate notice when my arrangements are more sure.: .
