i tried to phone you yesterday and was pleased (for your sake) to
learn you were on vacation.

My purpose was to introduce a Dr. Rugglero Ceppellini who was visiting
Madison. He is stationed at the Istituto Sieroterapico Milanese y at Milas
Italy, a colleague of our mitual good friend Cavalli, but is spending some
months in the U.S. with Dunn and Dobzhansky's group in N.Y. (Institute for
the Study of Human Variation, Columbia University, 413 %. 117 Street, New York
27, Ne¥.)} His present field of interest in the immunogenetics of husan blood
groups, ani he has a most interesting story tentell on the inheritance of the
Lewis factors, for example.

Dr. Ceppellini ts looking for new fields to explore, and you will not be
surprised that our conversation turned to the work you have bean doing with
ascites tumors, He is anxious, if possible, to arrange a brief visit to your
laboratory. #e were only sorsy we could aot arrange it with you as a stopover
oa his route back to New York, but I am writing to ask you the favor of indicating
to him whan and if it would be possible and convenient for you later this suwer.
