Glad to hear that the procedure looks feasible.  Re sterilization, we use 70% alcohol followed by washing in [...].  The filters are not allowed to re-dry, though I am not sure it would hurt if they did.  UV should certainly be alright, we have no experience.  Steam sterilization in our few tries was not satisfactory, lead to curling and general unhappiness.  With the thin stuff you may have trouble with static electricity in handling--this can be eliminated with any of the "destaticizers" on the market.
