Dear Alan:

During our visity you mentioned in passing that you'd want to learn
tc stain ©. coli nuclei—— it occurs to me now that you might not be averse
to tackling the problem of the cytological verification of fertilization
in Hfr x Fe, along with an extension of your cytophysical studies.

The enclosed photos (please return in due course) are probably artefacts,
bat we really have not yet gone into a detailed cytological study.

Do let me know of the progress of your alternative, and of your fellowship,
plans,
