Dear Josh,

It was very kind of you to send those semoles. David
Goring asked me to thank you for the millenore filter aid
information, and I was particularly grateful for the

brochure on lights, and for the flavonol samples.

Rutin seems very svaringly soluble in weter in the cole,
out 10 mg/l gives a clear solution. A whole range of
dilutions were tested for inhibition of mating in Chlamydo-
monas moewusSii, but no suspicion of inhibition was sbrerved
even at the highest concentrations (susnensions). Kuhn &
Léw (Naturwiss. (9):283, 1947) reported that 0.2901 mg/l
was completely inhibitory to mating in C. eugametos.

I observed not only mating as in controls, but also

the formation of normal zygotes in rutin solutions.
