July 30, 1954 Dear Miss Jack: Your letter and enclosures of July 28 finally caught up with me-- perhaps my reply will still be in time to be of some use. I am happy to comply with your request, and am returning the completed tests for your use, provided that the material is to be used without attribution and exclusively for publication in FORTUNE. Any other use or transmission by any other means should be subject to consultation fee following my prior approval. If you have taken the tests yourself, you will have noticed how ambiguous (perhaps purposely so?) are many of the questions. I had particular trouble with parts V and VI of "Personal Audit". IN V, I could not tell whether a reaction was asked for potential situations, taking into account their improbability and remoteness from personal experience, or whether one should assume their reality-- how would you react if you were trapped in a burning building? Or is this possibility something that concerns you? In VI, I could not define "dislike". Yours sincerely, Joshua Lederberg Professor of Genetics
