January 30, 1956 Dear Mr. Flanagan Thank you for yogr comments on my article (Genetic Transduction), and for the time you mst have spent with it. I appreciate your offer to discuss the art of popular writing [for which I make no professions] and hope I can take you up on it some time. Many of my friends have agreed with you, that it was too difficult for the Scientific American, and I suppose you and they mist be right. Having aimed at your audience, I may have been helped to reach another atratum, if that is e fair allusion-- at any rate after some revision, the article went to the American Scientist, where it should reach the general sclentific readers I am most concerned about. My viaits to New York are infre- guent and usually hurried, but I will try to arrange 2 meeting sometime. Yours sincerely, Joshua Lederbarg
