Dear Dr. Demerec:

Thank you for your letter of the 17th. I do not think it would
be profitable to continue to examine loci known already to be linked
to the loci we have already screened for linkage to Fla,. We shall
have to go on to a more direct screening for possibly linked loei;
by looking for auxotrophs from Fla* populations obtained by transduce tion
from irradiated bacteria, we might have some amall chance of picking
up a Fla-linked auxotroph, but it does seem dim.

When we have cleaned up some final details, we will ix send back
the lysates, if only for the vials they came in.
