March 23, 1950. Dr. Raymond Latarjet, Institut du Radium, 26 Rus d'Ula, Paris, Va, France. Dear Raymond: I have just received a notice from the National Research Council concerning the Symposium on Radiobiology to be held at Oberlin College in June, and was plasedd tomnote your nam emong the participants. Unfortunately, I have planned to eubark on an auto trip to California {I will be at Berkeley during August! not long after the date of the meeting, and cannot plan to attend without upsetting these plans. I hope, however, that I can persuade you to visit this campus, so that we can still take advantage of this opoortunity to meet. Lately, I have been engaged in some work on irradiating haploid and diploid E. coll which I should like to discuss with you in some detail, more than I can hope to put in this letter. Probably I can persuade this department to make a nominal contribu- tion of $25 or so toward your additional transportation expenses, but we are chronicaliy short of funds for such purposes, and I doubt that wa can do better. I hope that this will not be a deterrent, and tnat, if you have the time, you can plan to visit us here. Sincerely, Joshua Lederberg
