The National Institute of Justice (NIJ) is pleased to honor you with its Profiles in DNA Courage
Award, in recognition of your contributions to the field of forensic DNA identity testing, at its 5"
Annual Conference on the Future of DNA to be held in New York, NY, on May 8-9, 2000.

The awards ceremony is scheduled for 12:15 p.m. -1:45 p.m. on the afternoon of May 8, 2000,
following a luncheon speech by the Police Commissioner of New York, Howard Safir. At that
time you and the other honorees will be presented with the awards. It is not required that you
prepare comments for the ceremony but you are certainly welcome to make a short statement
during your acceptance of the award if you would like. We hope you will be able to attend the
conference in its entirety. Enclosed is a preliminary agenda to help you plan your time. Our
contractor, the Institute for Law and Justice, will be contacting you regarding your travel and
lodging arrangements.
