Lederberg, Vead, Dept. of Genetics, Stanford University, Stanford, California, U.S.A. Dear Professor Lederberg, Symposium on "The Biological Future of Man" It is very good to hear that there is a fair probability that both you and Esther will be with us here in November. There is a slight change in the dates; our lecture which I hope will set the stage tor the symposium will now be given on the 26th, the meeting itself running from the 27th to the 30th. IT hope this makes it easier rather than more difficult for you to be present throughout. I should tell you that TI have asked Harrison Brown to give the Annual Lecture and would be grateful for any encouragement you cau give him to do this and to stay and take part in the symposium. I hope in the near future to send round a detailed draft of the programme, but the enclosed revised outline will bring you up to date and does incicate with much more certainty the parts which people are prepared to play. Esther can count on an "unobtrusive" chair in the conference room, even if she has to become an unpaid member of the staff for that week! I hope that the possible interference will soon be cleared away and that you will be able to confirm youw coming. When you can, let me know what assistance you feel you would require from us in regard to your travelling expenses; we can then have the grant transferred to you in dollars well in advance, so that you can complete your reservations through your normal agent. Best wishes, Yours sincerely, le... G.E.W. Wolstenholme imel.
