The enclosed copy of a letter to Dr. Ceppellini
answers your request of July 30th.

I regret exceedingly that you came through
Buffalo while I was away. Your remark that you
‘can't emulate my vacationing" calls for comment.

I hid out in a log cabin in Southern Colorado with
a monumental manuscript by Levan and myself, trying
to see it through to publication without the admin-
istrative interruptions of my present job. In this
I succeeded only partly.
