I happened to see the article on "Sex in Bacteria: Genetic
Studies, 1945 - 1952," which you have contributed to the symo-
sium volume to be published by the AAAS. It is exactly the sort
of thing we need and like to have as a lead article in SCIENCE.

If you have no objection, I would like to use your article
in that way’ in the very near future--probably before the end of
July. You wouldn't object to a prepublication of your article
in this way, would you? On previous occasions SCIENCS has used
chapters from forthcoming books or articles to be published in
symposia in this way.
