My dear Lederberg:

You are the ‘peoples choice" to run for the position of
committeeman on the Public Education and Scientific Freedom Committee.
This, as you know, is a three year term. I hope it will be possible

_for you to run this time although you declined last year. There will
be no one else from the University of Wisconsin running this time as
there was last year. The other nominee will perhaps be L. J. Stadler
if he accepts, and if not, we will have to secure an alternate for hin.
However, you received the most votes of the members of the Society and
I feel sure that the Society members wish you to be a candidate for
this office. Will you kindly accept and allow your name to be placed
on the ballot which will be mailed to the members sometime in July.
