Dear Josh,

I have received an invitation to attend the seminar that
Montedison organizes in Washington next month. I think that the
invitation is due in good measure to your effort and I wish to thank
you. very much for your help. I. only regret that I shall not have a
chance to meet you there.

I am enclosing a copy of the provisional agenda of the
meeting on “bioethics” that will be held in Ottawa next April. This is
the meeting that, since 1984, precedes the summit of the heads of
state of the seven most industrialized countries. Of course, the
composition of the U.S. delegation is none of my business but I think
that you could contribute quite a bit to the success of the conference
as the topics on the agenda have always interested you. Could we hope
to see you, and perhaps also Marguerite, in Ottawa?

I am planning to meet Gene Garfield in Washington and have
some more information about "The Scientist".
