Dear Dr. Lederberg:

You have been advised that your research grant E-72(C5)
was recommended by the National Advisory Health Council and ap-
proved by the Surgeon General.

In the course of the administration of grants in this
field of research, it was considered advisable to have your applica-
tion reviewed also by the National Advisory Cancer Council. The
latter has recommended support and the Surgeon General has approved
payment of your grant from cancer research funds. Accordingly this
grant is being assigned a cancer research grant number by which it
will henceforth be known. The new number is given at the top of this
letter, and it is requested that all records concerned with this
grant in your institution be changed accordingly. In addition, all
future correspondence should carry the new number.

Should any question arise in connection with the fore—
going or with any future problem associated with your research,
please do not hesitate to let us kmow.
