RUTGERS UNIVERSITY The State University of New Jersey INSTITUTE OF MICROBIOLOGY March 22, 1956 NEW BRUNSWICK, NEW JERSEY CHARTER 7-1766 Drs. J. and E. M. Lederberg Department of Genetics University of Wisconsin Madison, Wisconsin Dear Esther and Josh: I have succeeded, finally, to battle through almost 2 feet of snow to the vicinity of an efficient secretary who can transcribe my written expression of gratitude for your kind hospitality. The little snow that is sufficient to paralyze life in the East also made my return trip a lengthy one. I did not get home until 6:30 the next morning after having spent almost the entire night in a plane between Chicago and Idlewild, with a 2-hour unscheduled stop in Washington. It was pleasantly adventurous rather than uncomfortable. As usual, I shall remember, thanks to you, my trip to Madison as one of the year's most pleasant and stimulating activity. I hope that this time less than two years will elapse before I get a chance to see you again. I shall let you know about my interview with Edward Simon within a few days. With very best regards, Sincerely, Qe] Werner Braun WB:DP
