Dear Dr. Lederberg:

I am discouraged to see you speaking out against population
control efforts. I recognise that your statements saying
overpopulation is not responsible for pollution are totally
correct, but it is disturbing to see people against pop-
ulation control using your statements (and I feel you do
basically recognise the need for population control) to
promote their attacks on population control. Statements

by recognised authorities such as yourself are essential

in educating the public, so ZI urge you to help in the
tremendous effort required to educate Americans to the need
of limiting facily size.
