I am personally very much gratified to see hew things ~ are going in this sphere. Cd mee bel tn bogey Loe purahd (s wee epgare tty Your last letter said that AT&T sells "service", which is not exactly very prpfound information. I am still trying to get some insight on the technical standards for that service; which will obviously become an increasingly pressing issue as data communications over voice lines keep pressing the nominal bendwidth and noise level. ¢At the present time,:am I wrong in thinking that..you offer long-lines customers the privilege of dialing up "as is" and accepting or rejecting whatever line becomes available, About 19% of ny long-distance voice connections are rather poor, and I am never sure what thres- hold of exasperation should lead me to take the trouble to demand reimbursenent (which I know you will always cheerfully give.) but if I am an instrument designer and manufacturer, I will have to take a more global view of the Rxperizs level of communication service I can reasonably expect. I had thought that the inevitable pressures on the Company might be an important basis for its concerns about opening up customer access. (but of course the BataPhone faces the same problems. ) > - .
