The President has indicated his desire to continue the
President's Science Advisory Committee as presently
constituted, and I am writing in the hope that you will serve
the Committee and this office as a consultant in the new
Administration.

With science and technology assuming ever-increasing
importance in the affairs of the nation, I fully expect that
our opportunities and responsibilities for providing sound
advice on the critical and emerging problems of national
significance in this vital area will grow in importance in the
future.

I would appreciate hearing from you as to your availability
and willingness to devote the necessary time to consultant
activities with the Science Advisory Committee, and I look
forward to our association.
