Dear Dr. Lederberg:

We are revising the organization and structure of the
Space Science Board to make it more representative of the
tasks and duties which the Board performs, and to provide
the regular rotation of advisory group membership which has
become a stated policy of the National Academy of Sciences.
Hence, it seems appropriate now to drop the designation of
yourself and other persons who have for some time been as-
sociated with the Board as "Consultants" to the Board.

The Nation has surely benefited from the substantial
efforts and wisdom you and your fellow Consultants have pro-
vided as former members of the Board in guiding our national
Space program. On behalf of the Board I wish to express our
warm thanks and appreciation.

While the official title "Consultant" is being dropped,
we hope that the Board may still on occasion enlist your
assistance.
