April 8, 1965 Dr. Orr S, Reynolds, Director Biescience Programs Office of Space Sciences & Applications National Aeronautics and Space Administration Washington 25, D.C. Dear Orr: Dr. Richard Masland, Director of the NINDB was here yesterday on a visit of the Advisory Board to the Kennedy Foundation, and I had a chance to give him a thumbnafl! sketch of some of oer aspirations in automating research operation. This just happens to coincide with something he is interested in, namely the de- velopment of automatic amino acid analyzers and analyzers for screening of body fluids. He might, therefore, also be a use- ful person to talk to with regard to a NASA NIH cooperation for our development efforts. I enjoyed our session over the last weekend very much, although I can't remember when I have had a more strenuous {intellectual exercise than trying to put these plans together. I really am excited about the possibilities that were opened up here and will continue to do what I can to meet the sort of strenuous schedule that we did put on. Cordially, Joshua Lederberg JL:14 Professor of Genetics
