Dear Horton:

SW-684 (the 77? Gal”) came from TM2 --x SW-666 on PMB galactose.
All I could find now are two cultures labelled SW-664 Bal* and Gal-
respectively. ['m asking Ann to aend you copies. I tried to repeat
the reuslt, also using SW~684 Gal” ss recipient, but failed. It's been
some time since I've even looked at this.

Gonnie has made sams good O5-serums, and would be glad to type the
cultures. I'll leave your letter with her, but doubt i'll have @ chance

to talk tu her before wa take uff. Why don't you correspond directly
with her meanwhile.

I was afraid there might be just such a fussy handling of the marrow
story as you imply. I've since learned that Charlie Heidelberger had tried
the protection experiment with some of his new anti-cancer compounds, and
‘got 75% survival compared to 25% for the drug-treated controls (4.¢. no
spleen or marrow]', but this was a small scale experiment and he got distracted

Before foliowing it up. Sc perhups this should be pushed as 4 concerted
trial before it gets lost in the limbo.
