Washington DC 20036 Dear Sir, I thought it would be of interest to you to read the enclosed copies of correspondence. As an ACS member for more than a quarter century I was surprised to learn that. a group of individuals were taking it upon themselves, under the alleged aegis of the ACS, to pags judgment on motives and intentions behind research efforts of Amarican scientists. I would like very much to know whether they have ACS support and encouragement for their political activian. If they do, then ag I mentioned in my enclosed letter to the Director of the City of Hope, I think they need guidance on ways and means. If they don't have such support they should not be involving ACS and should be so informed. I will be most interested in hearing from you. My best regards, Sincerely yours, R, Quentin Blackwell Copy: Dr. R. H. Watten, NAMRU-2
