It was a surprise and a pleasure to hear from you. Of course, I will
be very happy to furnish the reference that you had in mind, and I am glad
that you did brief me about the circumstances. Yes, it has been quite a few
years but I am sure that the people reviewing the application might have been

puzzled if there had in fact been no word from your thesis sponsor in this
connection,

I have from time to time recalled some of the work you were doing way
back then - for example there are still problems about Larry Weed's experiment

with copper that keep cropping up and I am still not sure whether we totally
understand what is going on there.

You mentioned that your youngest child is starting to go to school.
I wonder if you knew about my oldest (and only) @ one who is just now
15 months old and the most delightful companion imaginable.

Anyhow, the best to all of you, and I hope your plans work out.
