Dear Dr. Lederberg:

Thank you for your letter and expression of interest in tropical

medicine. I was also looking at malaria smears, but as a technician
in the U.S. Army.

I shall be in New York for one or two days the week of June 26,
so it may be possible for us to visit briefly at that time. I
will write later about this possibility. Dr. David Hamburg and I
have already had discussions on the international health issues
and he certainly is a strong supporter of a greater commitment to
research.
