Thank you for taking the time from your busy schedule to speak with me on
September 27, 1979,

As I mentioned on the telephone, we are preparing for a hearing before the

FDA and its advisors on the subject of approving Anturane (sulfinpyrazone) #4
for sudden cardiac death, and we felt the question of the risk versus benefit

of such approval should be part of our preparation for this proceeding. Your

name immediately came to mind as someone who might be available to serve as a
consultant on this matter.

Although we would prefer to meet with you at our Summit, New Jersey
headquarters, we would be most happy to talk with you in New York City. If
the meeting were to take place in your office in New York, we would plan to
have three representatives of the firm attend.

Thank you for agreeing to consider our proposal. I will call your office
during the week of October 8 to obtain your decision.
