I don't want to undercut Ralph Alden's and our development staff's noble efforts; but I am not sure my own unhindered judgment would be very enthusiastic about sending financial appeals to our scientific trusties. Please respond or not just as you see fit, (including any comments you wish to address on the propriety --)
Much more important is the advice we might glean from you. I will be in Calif. roughly 12/15-30 and will look for you at the Center, if you're there.
