The purpose of this meeting is to stimulate informal interactions and discussion between biochemists and epidemiologists and to explore the use of biochemical methods that can help in the design and interpretation of cancer epidemiology studies. An important aspect of this meeting is to ask whether biochemical measurements can be helpful in identifying individuals in our population who have a high cancer risk. Enclosed is a list of the United States participants and a tentative list of the Japanese participants who will be attending. These lists will give you an idea of the scope of the meeting. I wish that we were able to provide funds for your travel and lodging expenses, but we are not able to do this. I hope that you will be able to participate in our meeting and that we can get together sometime soon for further discussion on chemical carcinogenesis. With warm personal regards: Sincerely yours, Allan H. Conney, Ph.D. AHC/1jg Enclosures
