Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities (518) 436-4781 37 Elk Street, Aibany, New York 12224 Oftice of the President 28 June 1979 Dr. Joshua Lederberg : i Office of the President Po Rockefeller University 66th Street at York Avenue New York, New York 10021 Dear President Lederberg: In March, I sent a letter, on behalf of Bob Keeshan, to the chief executive of each cIcu member institution informing them of the trustee/delegate network proposed by the Committee of Correspondence, since renamed the Council of Governing Boards (CGB). I also requested that each chief executive designate a trustee from their board to serve as a delegate. As of today most cIcu members have a trustee representative serving with the Council. Your institution is one of the few which has not named a trustee/delegate. The delegates will not be required to attend any CGB meetings. At the regular meetings of their institution's board, they may wish to address public policy concerns raised in cor- respondence they receive from CGB. It is the intent of the CGB Board of Directors to be able to print the names of these prominent trustees on publications like the one enclosed. We are planning a revised edition of this Primer which would include a list of our trustee/delegates. We would like to include a name from your board of trustees. I would appreciate your designating a prominent member of “a your board as soon as possible. I look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely ersy & fe Henry D. Paley HDP:sb Enclosure SAWL
