1230 YORK AVENUE - NEW YORK, NEW YORK 10021 Dear Dr. Lederberg: Mr. Nichols has told me of your conversation about opening up more University events to our neighbors, and I must say Mr. Bayless and I were delighted with the idea. As Rod may have told you, I approached the sponsors of the following seminars who usually ask that we indicate University Personnel Only: Experimental Medicine and Pathology Discussion Group Seminars in Investigative Endocrinology Seminars in Investigative Medicine Meeting of the New York Lipid Research Club All liked this change and said that they would welcome a larger audience, Another point that occurs to me is that it might be helpful, in opening the door to our neighbors as it were, to include my extension at the foot of the Calendar for those who want more information. The note in small type could read "For Calendar information call 360-1217". If I don't know the answer at least I would know the sponsor and could refer callers to the proper party. A further thought, if you approve, is that in the rare cases when there is any restriction on attendance from now on, I'1l include in* the Calendar entry an extension for the responsible office to call for information. And finally, I am preparing a list for you showing the breakdown of our off-Campus distribution for the Calendar by institution and for individuals. I hope to have this to show you within the next few weeks. We look forward to seeing you soon. The University flora will be in full bloom in about ten days and I enclose a map to help you find your way around. meena ee be P Sha lla (Mrs.) Pamela E.
