Our colleague Orio Ciferri has spent a short period with us and
is now returning to Italy. I have asked him to come to see you to express
to you as Secretary of the Committee of Biology and Medicine of the Consiglio
Nazionale delle Ricerche our appreciation for so far having permitted the
collaboration between the researchers of Pavia and Stanford. We have found
this collaboration extremely fruitful and increasingly promising. We very
much hope that you will continue to support this enterprise on the Italian
